"Altrusian Moon - A Lo-Fi Collection Of Psychedelia And Space Rock" Sleestak is kicking off the new year with a new release called "Altrusian Moon - A Lo-Fi Collection Of Psychedelia and Space Rock". Yes, we know: we didn't warn you. It is available at Bandcamp and is a "pay what you want" digital album - you can pay $0 or be as generous as you wish. We dug deep into our rehearsal archives to give our fans a glimpse into our relaxed free-form jams, a very psychedelic improvised musical exploration of song ideas. Yes, there are mistakes, missed drum hits, wrong notes, etc. but the journey is there - a raw yet sublime document of our times playing together in the basement over the years. Altrusian Moon: Volume Two by Sleestak Pre-Order the new album Altrusian Moon Vol. 2. It's another incredible collection of lo-fi doomy psychedelic basement explorations inspired by the obscure underground rock n' roll jam sessions of the 60's and 70's. Put your headphones on, light up that fatty, and close your eyes to experience the kind of trip only Sleestak can take you on.
Another very sad blog post today. From CNN: "Grammy-winning guitarist Jeff Hanneman, a founding member of the heavy metal band Slayer, died Thursday of liver failure in Southern California, the band said in a statement. He was 49. "Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11 a.m. this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure," the band said in a statement posted on its website and Facebook page. Hanneman leaves behind his wife, Kathy, a sister and two brothers. "He ... will be sorely missed," the band said." A Sleestak side note: Marcus and I had the great honor of opening for Slayer when we played in our old band Atomic Number 9. This was back in 1999. Anyways, it was definitely a highlight for us and our musical "careers" and personally I like to brag about it because really, how many bands can say they did that?...
