The View

Ok, so I just heard that Metallica/Lou Reed thing for the first time and saw the video. Did they ripoff "Burnout" or what? Oh yeah thats one of the most original things I've ever heard before, nobody has ever done something like what Metallica is doing! (this is where I make it clear the sarcasm abounding) Shame on Lou Reed. EDIT: I felt it needed to be said that overall this song is garbage and should never have happened. Its like a horrible car accident you just can't help but look at.

Is It Gravity?

Heavy Planet just reviewed "Altrusia". A magnificent review, I must say. They gave the album an outstanding 10 of 10! I have nothing to complain about....jaw to the floor and thankful for sure of the warm reception for our CD. Please visit the site HERE .

Working On New Songs

So we've been in the midst of writing new music, trying a few new ideas out. To date, while neither are complete, there are two songs in the works. The first is going to have some of our heaviest, most crushing doom sounds ever. Expect slower tempos and some serious groove along with a helping of acoustic guitars - yes, I am busting out the 12-string tuned to B. And speaking of the acoustic side of things, the second song we are writing will be mostly just that, with a nice haunting ambience and some psychedelic overtones. This song is planned for a vinyl split with Italy's stoner/psych marauders Ivy Garden Of The Desert. It looks like it may possibly get released by Nasoni Records in April of 2012. We will announce it officially as soon as we can. Stay tuned....

Thanks Chicago

Big thanks to those who attended our show last friday. It was great to meet some of our fans and make some new ones. Cheers goes to Stone Magnum, Ravensthorn, Asgard Radio, Mike Smith, Fast n Bulbous blog, and everyone who experienced seperation from reality during our set.

We Be Trippy Jam-min'

Image
Trippy Jam just posted the live edit of "Altrusia" I did awhile back, complete with all the psychedelic visuals you can handle. It's always cool to see who people compare us to and this time it's Manuel Göttsching from legendary krautrock bands Ash Ra Tempel and The Cosmic Jokers. This live recording was taken from June 2009 and has all of our improvisational/jam/psych parts blended together with a few samples thrown in for good measure, You know where the samples are from! Here is the Youtube version that earthless posted:

Sleestak Is Causing Ripples

It's a 'must' read. I'm talking about Sleestak's recent review held at esteemed The Ripple Effect. Penned by Mr. Penfold, it is a story of sorts, a brief, fictional adventure into the relaying of our ancient Altrusian wisdom. Yeah, go read it HERE . Thank you.

Für Unsere Deutsch Freunden

Ok, while I am a pure blood of Germanic descent I don't know how to speak it. Maybe someone could help translate the new review of "Altrusia" that appears in issue #7 of Doom Metal Front Zine . I'm going out on a limb and guess they enjoyed it? Fingers crossed.

Cosmic Lava Review

Mr. Klaus Kleinowski has been extremely kind in reviewing "The Fall Of Altrusia" for the readers of Cosmic Lava website. Go check it out as it's totally badass!

Review From Doom-metal.com

Here is a unique review from one of the main doom websites Doom-Metal.com . I say unique because it is filled with many descriptives and adjectives like "cottony" and "acrimony". I say it's quite "effervescent".

Thanks...

Just want to say thanks to Nathan and Nanotear, Those Kickstarts, Romero, Club Garibaldi, The Fequency, Rokker and his new Rokker Vodka, and Totimoshi....all for your parts in the shows this past week. We had a hell of a good time! Thanks to everyone who chose to come out during the week to enjoy some of the heavy and support the music! Stay tuned for more show announcements.....

Sleestak In The Onion And Last Night's Show

The new cd has just been reviewed in The Onion's AV Club! A pretty good take on the disc by Matt Wild. Please go pay a visit HERE . Last night rocked the house down with Totimoshi and Those Kickstarts. Too bad you weren't there to see it. Very disappointed in Milwaukee. Thanks to the few who came to share the night with us! A note to those who failed to show: you can make it up to us by coming to The Frequency tonight out in Madison.

The Express Review

The Shepherd Express just did a review on our CD. You can read it HERE . Now, I always appreciate good, constructive criticism. I mean, when it's done right, it's really there to form a point from which to improve - at least for me it is. I try to be clear in my delivery of the death metal style of vocals but have been labeled "unintelligible" here. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION?? Leave comments and tell me what you think about the vocals in Sleestak! Do they fit with what we do? Is it tasteful? Should I just shut up and we go full on instrumental? And no, I am not throwing a fit about it, as I don't really care and will continue to be as brutal as I see fit. I am just curious to know what everyone thinks.

Show Update

Some changes to the two upcoming shows with Totimoshi: 8/9/11 - Like Like The Death Deaths have dropped off the bill, looking for a last minute replacement to open the show. 8/10/11 - Poney has dropped off the bill, no replacement, now 3 bands. Also, Brian will not be making it to join us at this show but we are pleased to announce that synth player Ryan Rupprecht of the Milwaukee indiepop group Faux Fir will be filling in on keys for a Sleestak first! Not sure if he will be joining us on a regular basis yet though, but rehearsals with him have been very cool. Will be very exciting to play "Altrusia" like this live.....

On The Long Ride To Hell

I was visiting Hellride this morning, checking the forums for interesting news and info and stuff and lo and behold! Mr. Barnes has posted a short but very sweet review of Sleestak and something about how he'd like to be called "Big Daddy"....Go check out the prose HERE .

Sleestak Climbs The Obelisk!

Mr. Taskmaster has gone to great lengths to critique "Altrusia" and picks up on some of my own little qualms with the album, but, nevertheless its an incredible play-by-play review which you can read over at The Obelisk . Check it out and the awesome forum they have over there.

The Sleeping Shaman Review

What can I say? The Sleeping Shaman reviews the new Sleestak CD and once again we as a band are blown away by the praise and positive reception it has received. We couldn't be happier with the outcome of the album itself and are very glad to hear others share our outlook. Thanks Mark, enjoy the old TV series, and hope it gives you that dark vibe of psychedelic sci-fi nostalgia that it's infected us with.

Pakuni Shaman Chant Of The Altrusian Moth

The ancient, weathered Pakuni medicine man sits cross-legged, staring into the slow burning ceremonial fire. He gazes into vast unseen dimensions which overlap all of time, taking advice from the ancestors and heeding the warnings of age-old legends. His prayer is chanted to the sky with the deep respect of life and mystery...... "opima mekiya ba chiri fa dinda ogansa ocima eram bako wocasa efurami esishu opari meni gosa epi wachi tiri efini ku pi ewoya meni me saku epi ota me saku ota" Translated: "stone maker comes in silence takes and eats the magic cactus the moon brings strange ceremonies to test the reasons of our fierce ways now the quiet things go and follow the flowers and we thank you for the glowing fire" "Pakuni Shaman Chant Of The Altrusian Moth" is the final chapter of "The Fall Of Altrusia." Download and listen to it HERE for free. Enjoy!
