Myelin Constellation Press Release from MATT SCHMITZ of SLEESTAK

This past April, my wife Kim was diagnosed with relapse/remitting multiple sclerosis. We have been dealing with her symptoms for several years which have included horrible fatigue, muscle spasms, depression, pain, digestive problems, numbness, and more recently even cognitive and sight issues. The doctors we had visited never once mentioned MS as a possibility and she was being treated in a compartmentalized manner, i.e. take this medication for depression, take this other pill for pain, and so on and so forth. We were told she just had all these seperate health issues with nothing she could do but take pills. Finally, after her left side (including her face) had went numb we went to an Urgent Care clinic. The quack doctor there saw us for literally less than two minutes, concluded she was getting shingles, and told me in earshot of every other patient and staff member that we should not worry, that she did not have a stroke, and that she did not have MS. He handed us a shingles pamphl

RIP: Jeff Hanneman

Image
Another very sad blog post today. From CNN: "Grammy-winning guitarist Jeff Hanneman, a founding member of the heavy metal band Slayer, died Thursday of liver failure in Southern California, the band said in a statement. He was 49. "Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11 a.m. this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure," the band said in a statement posted on its website and Facebook page. Hanneman leaves behind his wife, Kathy, a sister and two brothers. "He ... will be sorely missed," the band said." A Sleestak side note: Marcus and I had the great honor of opening for Slayer when we played in our old band Atomic Number 9. This was back in 1999. Anyways, it was definitely a highlight for us and our musical "careers" and personally I like to brag about it because really, how many bands can say they did that?

Pre-order Update

We have added a full color foldout 11"x17" poster signed by the band to the pre-order package as well as a few "nuggets" of unreleased bonus live material. New FREE Downloads From Sleestak

As we move forward into a world ever more controlled by government, big corporations, and the MAFIAA, it becomes so much more important that we, as a cultural and creative species, continue to share our works with one another and make them available to all who have the spark of interest. It is in this light, and the light of the looming Six Strikes rule being put into place by America's ISPs and their Hollywood puppeteers, that Sleestak have opened the vaults to most every band and project that can be waved under the Sleestak banner. They are given to you FREELY. Download them, share them, upload them to a torrent site, host them on your blog, etc. We do appreciate any monetary support of these releases of course as we are independent with no label support, PR firm, or whatever, but that is secondary to the statement we are trying to make. Go forth friends and enjoy the music over at Bandcamp . New/Reissue Releases by: Sickness Planet Delirium Memory's Garden

New EP Announcement

Image
Well here it is, you guys have seen the art for some time, but here it is with logo/title : Sleestak - Book Of Hours . Tracklist: 1. Appeasing The Gods (Intro) 2. Seven Sorrows 3. Five Million Years To Earth 4. Lone Wolf 5. Blacklight Communion  It's shaping up to be more of straight forward (less noodling than our more psych stuff) heavy stoner/doom endeavor but expect it to be stellar with the Sleestak style and sound. We are still planning on April for studio time with a May release. Pre-orders will be announced in late March or early April and those who do may get an unreleased bonus track for being the early bird and supporting the band. Keep your ears to the ground for a solid release date for this EP as well as news on the upcoming full length later this year - it promises to absolutely destroy... Share the news and DOOM on.....

Seeking Keys/Organ Player!

Sleestak is seeking an organ/keys player for upcoming EP. Can you channel Ray Manzarek of the Doors through early Sabbath and Cream? Needless to say, style of music for this project is heavier blues but a little more doomed. You should have equipment, transportation, live in the Milwaukee area, between age of 25-40ish. This could be a temporary or possibly permanent spot if it works out. Please email sleestak@sleestakmusic.com Lone Wolf excerpt by sleestakmusic
